Tobagonians casting their vote on Monday 21 January would not be allowed to enter the voting booth with their cellphones.
The Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC) is warning that no cellphones or cameras are allowed in the voting booth for the Tobago House of Assembly (THA) elections on Monday.
In a press advertisement yesterday, the EBC said it was "absolutely necessary to have secrecy and privacy when casting your vote".
The cellphone-in-the-voter-booth issue came to the forefront earlier this week when the People's National Movement (PNM) Tobago arm complained to the EBC that it had received reports of a plot by People's Partnership coalition member Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) to "steal the election" by giving away 10,000 mobile phones to persuade voters to choose the TOP at the polls.
