A man of no fixed place of abode in Tobago remains in police custody, being questioned in connection with the disappearance of Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) leader Ashworth Jack’s loaded 9 millimetre pistol, 15 rounds of ammunition and $15,000 in cash.
The items were stolen from Jack previous home, at Jack’s Avenue, Mt Grace, on Wednesday, sometime between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
According to police reports, around 10 a.m., Jack, who currently lives in Mt St George, went to his original residence, placed the loaded firearm in one of the bedrooms and after doing some chores he fell asleep.
When he awoke around 3 p.m. the firearm was discovered missing, along with 15 rounds of 9 millimetre ammunition, and the cash.
Jack went to the Scarborough Police Station where a report was made. Officers visited the scene, dusted for fingerprints but nothing was lifted.
Acting Sgt Glenville Wilson of the Scarborough CID is conducting enquires into the matter.
According to police officials, the suspect remained in custody as investigations continue. The man was observed in the area before the items went missing.
