Alleyne, Alfred to run for TOP

Up to press time, the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) is yet to release its long awaited list of candidates for the January 21 Tobago House of Assembly elections.

When contacted, leader of the party Ashworth Jack indicated that the TOP was not quite ready with the list, adding that it still had to be finalized. However, according to a report carried out by the Tobago News, Jack confirmed some of the candidates that would be mounting the platform under the TOP banner.

Former Assemblyman Richard Alfred would be representing the TOP in the Buccoo/Mt Pleasant constituency. He would be facing PNM newcomer Ancil Dennis who  have replaced Albert Pilgrim, as he opted out of politics after resigning as Secretary of Health and Social Services.

Pastor Chester Alleyne of the Lambeau Healing Tabernacle has also been given the nod for the Lambeau/Signal Hill constituency. He would do battle with Jomo Pitt as Oswald Williams the current representative has indicated that he would not be available for another term for the PNM.

Ashworth Jack would be returned as candidate for the Mason Hall/Moriah district, while Rolly Quaccoo and Steve Jack will also be retained in their respective constituencies. Anselm Richards is expected to be introduced in the Roxborough/Delaford area.

The full slate of candidates is expected to be presented in the next week.
