INTERIM leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) Jack Warner is alleging that Crime Watch host Ian Alleyne was asked to contest the St Joseph constituency on a United National Congress ticket.
And if he wins, he would be appointed the new Minister of National Security.
Warner was speaking at a rally on Wednesday night at Market Square in Point Fortin.
He said Alleyne was asked to contest the seat by Attorney General Anand Ramlogan and Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar was aware of that conversation between Ramlogan and Alleyne.
He told the crowd: “Last Thursday, things are so bad with them (the People’s Partnership), the AG calls Ian Alleyne and he put Kamla on the other line and the AG is begging Ian Alleyne to go up for St Joseph and telling Ian Alleyne that if he accepts they will make him Minister of National Security. They just appoint one (Gary Griffith) two weeks ago. They have begun to undermine the very man that they appointed two weeks ago. Let the AG say that is not true.”
