Tourism Secretary Aims to Improve Tobago Tourism Product

Newly appointed Secretary of Tourism and Transportation Tracy Davidson-Celestine, stated that she had met with the Minister of Tourism, Stephen Cadiz, to discuss the upgrades and extension to be done on the ANR Robinson International Airport to foster collaboration between the two entities.

Although the Minister of Tourism is not directly responsible for the airport terminal, it was agreed by the parties that he would follow through on the matter and get further information to the THA. 

The Secretary indicated that they have employed a number of means in an effort  to increase tourist arrivals to the island. She spoke about the "Go Go campaign" which is designed to attrack tourist bookings of in the late winter. This initiative is primarily geared to target the Scandinavian  countries and the United kingdom, it has been ongoing since  2010.

The  Division’s is also embarking on a “Got-to-Go Tobago” Roadshow which will take place on February 18th-23rd in an attempt to gain the Canadian market. Arrangements are also being done to facilitate airlift from Europe.

Additionally, efforts are also being made to increase Caribbean Airlines’ capacity for the Easter holidays, as well as the Tobago Jazz Festival which will take place from April 20th to 28th.
