A 40-year-old mother is set to marry her own son. The woman and her son claim to be in love with each other. And now they want to take their relationship to the next level and get married considering that the mother, Betty Mbereko (from Mwenezi in Masvingo) is now six months pregnant and expecting her son’s child and her grand child.
Mbereko, 40, has been a widow for the past 12 years and has been living with her 23-years-old son Farai Mbereko.
She confirms that she is six month pregnant and that she has decided it is better to “marry” her son because she does not want to marry her late husband’s young brothers, whom she says are coveting her.
Betty stunned a village court last week when she said the affair with her son had begun three years earlier.
She said after spending a lot of money sending Farai to school following the death of her husband, she felt she had a right to his money and no other woman was entitled to it.
“Look, I strove alone to send my son to school and no one helped me. Now you see that my son is working and you accuse me of doing something wrong.
“Let me enjoy the products of my sweat,” she told the village court council.
Farai said he was more than prepared to marry his mother and would pay off the ilobola balance his father had left unpaid to his grandparents.
“I know my father died before he finished paying the bride price and I am prepared to pay it off,” he said. “It is better to publicise what is happening because people should know that I am the one who made my mother pregnant.
Otherwise they will accuse her of promiscuity.” But local headman Nathan Muputirwa says: “We cannot allow this to happen in our village, mashura chaiwo aya, (This is a bad omen indeed). In the past they would have to be killed but today we cannot do it because we are afraid of the police.”
He warned them to immediately break off their marriage or leave his village. They chose the latter and have since left the village for an undisclosed destination.

I know gay couples who are the best parents in the world. I believe in God. I believe in the Bible. I am told that in at least one country young men are initiated into sexual intercourse by the father instructing them how to, with the mother. It is rare for a woman to take such a stance. Abomination aside, usually children of such unions are not normal, so why do people even run the risk? It is quite despicable that they feel the need to set some sort of precedence by expecting simple acceptance. ReplyDeleteIf the story is true, and she is carrying her own grandson, and she's already 40, then there is a high risk of her dying while giving birth, or worse, having a deformed child, whether physical, mental or emotional. Forget spiritual, that's already deformed.
Given that she delivers a healthy baby, and the baby grows up... When the poor kid has to do a family tree, what happens then? Can you IMAGINE the psychological impact this will have on the child?
I do hope she can deal with a suicidal teen when she's in her 50's or 60's... and I hope she can afford the very best in mental care, because this child will need it.

To those who say incest happened in Genesis, YES it did because they were told to replenish the Earth so it wasn't illegal and God didn't frown upon it since He commanded it. When a husband died, if his wife had not given him a son the brother was to take the wife and make a baby boy; as you see in Genesis when the brother spilled his seed on the grown God struck him dead because that is not what he was told to do. As far as eating bacon and cutting our hair, I encourage you to study the Bible more in order to further understand the relationship between the Old Testament and the New Testament in terms of sin.

If someone lives a homosexual lifestyle, it is their life. Nowhere in the Bible does it say to treat your fellow man as less than human. In fact, according to the Bible, everyone is living a sinful life.
If some Christians focused more on love and repentance instead of condemnation and hate, I suspect that their evangelical efforts would be more fruitful.
