Ashworth Jack: A Political Prostitute.

Political prostitution has probably been around since the creation of Politics itself.  The fundamental idea behind the concept of prostitution is that someone is willing to provide a perverted service to another in return for a payment. Political prostitution may be defined as the "offering of one’s services or power for a corrupt use, for the sake of personal or financial gain". Thus, politicians who engage in selling their influence and power in an effort to secure personal achievements and gains can be considered Political Prostitutes. 

Given the definition,  Ashworth Jack by all means, can be viewed as a political prostitute.  In the 2010 General Election, Jack was accused of selling out Tobago for 15 million, something he categorically denied and threatened to sue the ones who were responsible. However true or false that might be, it is something only his account can corroborate. However, in recent times, Mr. Jack have asserted that his political alliance with the PP is to wrest the THA from the clutches of the PNM and in so doing archived his long desire of being Chief Secretary and somehow attain political self actualization. 

Political prostitution is now threatening the island of Tobago. One cannot seek to be chief secretary solely because it is someone's life long political dream. The chief secretary's office should not be the covet of an individual whose fairy-tale is attaining the position and then "live happily ever after". Moreover, it should be reserved for an individual who has the development of Tobago at heart, and is prepared to lay down his/her life for the advancement of the island of Tobago. 

So in-addition to occupying your minds with that of BOLT, Unfinished projects, and Race talks, engage your self in visualizing the behavior of your Minority Leader and how he has lowered himself in being a political prostitute before our very own eyes.  More like a real time prostitute, Ashworth Jack has listed him self for personal gain/s. Moreover, he has sold his political influence within Tobago to the UNC lead buyer within the PP government offering them "handjobs" and "Orals" for  political power and financial wealth. 

Whats more interesting is that when you examine the act of prostitution closely, the buyer has supreme control in how the "act" is going to proceed, and in most cases influences the prostitute's every action for the given time of purchase thereafter so long that he/she (the prostitute) have accepted the payment. It is no secret that the  Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is intent on claiming what she called "the last jewel" of the People's National Movement"s crown, and the only way she can achieve this is by enlisting the services of  Jack's gang.  

Political prostitution is the bane of party politics which seems to be pervading the mind body and sole of Tobago electorates. Tobago do not be fooled that these political prostitutes are dressed in mini-skirts and platform shoes or are they standing on the side of the road waiting for a "pullup" person to come take them away. Rather, they are clad in designer suits, jacket and ties and drives Prado SUVs  and other luxury vehicles courtesy your tax payers monies. For most part, the TOP has demonstrated little or no influence within the PP coalition, and thus one must question and consider the real agenda in the PP's purchase of Ashworth Jack.  Tobago must not allow the institution of the THA to be diminished into a brothel like establishment where political prostitutes congregate and engage themselves in the immoral activity of selling the sole, body and fabric of Tobagonians for one's personal profit or pleasure.  Tobago must emphatically reject all Political Prostitutes.

Ashworth Jack said on Saturday the days are numbered for Orville London, the Chief secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly (THA), as he supported a call for the THA election that is due early next year.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar made the call one week ago after the leader of the People's National Movement demanded fresh general elections. The Prime Minister responded by telling Rowley if he is so interested in an election he could have one by just telling London to make the call.

That caused Rowley to strike back at Persad-Bissessar stating that she has no right or jurisdiction to make such a demand. On Saturday the leader of the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) asked why.

Speaking at a People's Partnership Pre-Budget rally in Changuanas Jack asked why it was OK everyone to demand an election but the moment the PM did the same "they vex". He said an election is due in Tobago soon and whether they call it now or later the result would be the same - the end of the PNM rule in Tobago.

Jack said London has a lot to answer for including a multi million dollar land transaction in which the THA bought lands for $12 million and within days leased it back to the same people who sold it. The lease, he said, is for 199 years at a rate of ten dollars a year. He also wondered how a project in Bacelot climbed from $199 million to $250 million.

The THA minority leader said the PNM has a dismal record of achievement in Tobago despite spending billions of dollars in the 12 years since it has been in office. 

He also said the PNM has been blocking progress on constitutional reform. He said he is looking forward to a bill for self government going before Parliament to see whether PNM leader Keith Rowley would block it. Rowley has threatened to withhold support for bills that require special majorities, which includes any bill on constitutional amendment.

THA Says YES is not OJT

THA Secretary of Finance and Enterprise Development Dr Anselm London has said it was false for Minority Leader Ashworth Jack to say that the current YES (Youth Energised for Success) programme was an OJT (On the Job Training) programme.

.He said the statement by Jack was deliberately false and misleading and he ought not to do that, adding that at the formal launch of the programme three weeks ago it was made absolutely clear that it was not an OJT programme. "YES is not an OJT programme and the Minority Leader should know better and should not be engaged in this kind of political tomfoolery," he said.

Dr London further stated that Jack's claim that persons will be receiving $4,000 per month was far from the truth. "These are highly trained individuals in all kinds of fields, be they in finance, economics, business, engineering, sociology, mathematics, these are all graduates, people trained by the THA and for Mr Jack to take it upon himself to mislead the rest of the community about the wages paid and the type of programme, that is false," he added.

The Finance Secretary said the first 38 persons to be employed shortly will not receive $4,000 per month as claimed by the Minority Leader but some were going to receive $10,000 per month and upwards.

Dr London said Jack should know about the programme since it was discussed in the last THA budget presentation to the House of Assembly in June. It was also discussed at a seminar attended by youth and business organisations last September.

Strange Appearance" Prime Minister and Ashworth Jack featured in "50 Meets 50"

In a surprise to patrons last night, Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar and Minority Leader of the THA, Ashworth Jack appeared at the 50 meet 50 concert held at Canoe Bay-Tobago. In true political style, and public relation gimmick they both walked out from backstage holding raised hands to the crowd.

The  surprised crowd showed mixed emotion to the their appearance. Some cheered while they both waved with smiles to the crowds, while others grunt and murmured with disapproval. Their appearance came at the end of Taurus Riley's performance. 

"50 Meets 50"  was promoted as a mega show in which the two countries celebrating their 50th anniversary were featured. Artists represented from Jamaica were: Sizzla, Baby Cham, and Taurus Riley, while Artists from Trinidad were: Machael Montano and the HD family, shal Marshal, Tc, Ravi B and Karma, Roy Cape featuring Denise Belfond and Blacks.

Divisive and racially coated were the words used to describe the 4.3 billion budget presentation for fiscal 2013 by Minority Leader Ashworth Jack. With no holding back on words, he lambasted the Tobago House of Assembly for their failed policies, which have affected the lives of Tobagonians. Accusing the administration of what he described as "Voodoo Economics".  He stated that the administration was concocting figures, data, and statements, out of dark corners and secret compartments.  Further, he criticize the efforts by the cassava initiative which stated that 11 acres were under cassava cultivation.  Contending that agriculture have been stifled, and that Tobago survives and depends on the importation of food coming from Trinidad. He further  accused the current administration of not having a development vision, calling on the Secretary of Finance to tell the Tobago populace and the rest of the world what is their Development Vision that has informed their budgets over the past 12 years. It is therefore not surprising he has defined the proposals of the budget as "Old talk, and no action". Promising that his TOP administration would change the fortunes of the island.

Alliance of Convenience

Symbolic of the Tobago Organisation of the People
and the People's Partnership

With the Movement of Justice (MSJ) withdrawing from the People's Partnership (PP), it is clear that the party's strength and support have begun to dwindle. However, in a most obvious manner, acting Prime Minister Errol Mc load have distance himself of any affiliation to the MSJ. Now more than ever, we need to know who does he pledge allegiance to within this partnership. Certainly, he isn't independent and as such must align himself to one the remaining four. Further, the same can be asked of the Tobago represented party within this partnership. Why do they maintain this "unprofitable" union. Clearly, the PP hasn't done any thing major for the advancement of the people of Tobago in its two (2) years of existence. Their proposal of duty free Tobago is economically unsustainable, their proposed reduced maritime boundary of 2 miles is unfair, unjustified and without doubt economically motivated. Tobago, having therefore only to settle for an introduction of a Trinidad based CEPEP program, where "Tobago Country Bookies" must fight for the crumbs of it all. Even in the face of gross impiety to the THA by the PP, TOP have been silent and uncritical to say the least. The question therefore resurfaces as to why do they maintain ties to this partnership. Can it be to secure financing and extra support for the THA elections? Is it merely to "eat ah food" and bask in the perks and privileges that comes to party affiliates? What is becoming clear is that these parties do not maintain alliances for the advancement of Trinidad and Tobago, nor do they  for the advancement of Country or the benefit of Citizens. Rather, they maintain 'alliances of convenience' for personal political gains and for the furtherance of their concealed agendas.  It remains to be seen how long would the Tobago Organisation of the People (TOP) continue to hold on to this union. The peoples' eyes are on you, we are looking at your every move, remember the people of Tobago would be the Judge and Jurors on January 2013.
