Shut Down of Roxborough Fire Station

The Roxborough Fire Station has been closed down, following a failed inspection by the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) officials. Public Relations Officer of the Tobago arm of the Fire Service, David Thomas, confirmed closure of the station when the Express contacted him for a statement yesterday. The closure of the Roxborough Fire Service follows an inspection on July 30, by OSH officials.

A notice was put on the walls of the Roxborough Fire Station on Tuesday, which stated the Authority’s findings. These included cracking, bulging and collapse of the plaster on the ceiling throughout the premises, and the deterioration of concrete columns and beams, in addition to mould growth. The Roxborough Fire Station has now been relocated to the Argyle Waterfalls. In emergency situations, members of the public can call 639-1000, 639- 2108, 749-4200, 753-4130 or 369-7376.
