Body of Tobago Fisherman Found

 Gordon Eastman, Fisherman

The body of missing fisherman Gordon Eastman was found shortly before 3 p.m. yesterday in waters off Castara.

Eastman, of Charlotteville, had been missing at sea since Friday, when he went out on his 40-foot pirogue.

Public relations officer of the Coast Guard Lieutenant Commander Kirk Jean Baptiste told the Express they received the trouble report on Friday around 11 p.m.

“Coast Guard Interceptor 021 was deployed, in addition to air searches by the Trinidad and Tobago Air Guard. An urgent marine information broadcast was also issued to other vessels,” Jean Baptiste said.

Kerron Eastman, son of the missing man, said Friday his family had been hoping for the safe return of their relative, who had been a fisherman for over 50 years.

He described his father as an experienced fisherman and hero.
