Trinidad Woman Charged with Defrauding Tobago Business Men

Marlene Michelan­gie, 32, of Abercromby Street, St Joseph, has been charged with six counts of obtaining credit by fraud.

On Monday, she faced three charges at the Scarborough Court, and three separate char­ges are to be called in Trinidad.

Members of the Fraud Squad last week came to Tobago in search of the woman.

Michelangie appeared before a Scarbo­rough Magistrates’ Court on Monday before Magistrate Seemungal Ramsaran, and will also appear in the Port of Spain and Arima Magistrates’ Courts, respectively, to answer similar charges of obtaining credit by fraud.

Two Tobago guest house owners, Joann Douglas and Seymore James, appeared in court as witnesses in the matter. The matters were laid indictably as she was not called upon to plead.

Charges were laid by WPC Williams/Reid and Cpl Walters of the Crown Point Police Station.  She was placed on $30,000 bail with surety, with Clerk of the Peace appro­val, to reappear on November 3.
